Multidimensional protection of human rights in the period of an armed conflict

II Round Table of the Belarusian branch of the International Law Association on "Multidimensional protection of human rights in the period of an armed conflict" took place on September 25, 2017 at the International University "MITSO".

The event was attended by the representatives of the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National Center for Legislation and Legal Research, UN High Commissioner for Refugees and others.

In the framework of the plenary session of the Round Table Michael John Strauss, Professor of the Center for Strategic and Diplomatic Research (France), made a report on "Privatization of a State: Influence on Human Rights". David Thorns, senior lecturer of the Center for National Security and Stability of the United Kingdom, made an intervention on the topic "Human rights law and military operations: some recent changes in the sphere of regulation".

Douhan Alena, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs and International Relations of the International University "MITSO", delivered the report concerning types of responsibility and compensation for unilateral coercive measures.

Moroz Natalia, professor – deputy head of the Department of international law of the International University "MITSO", spoke on the topic "The duty of a state to fight terrorism as a prerequisite for the protection of human rights".

Problem of participation of super-soldiers in modern armed conflicts was considered in the report of the Council of Europe expert Philip Gaffet (France).

The report "How Personal Rights Became Public: Women, Peace, Security" made by Ekaterina Kuznetsova, senior lecturer of the Department of international law of the Belarusian State University was the last to be presented during the Round Table.
