Online event on results of the PGG II

The midterm results of the second phase of the European Union and Council of Europe Partnership for Good Governance (PGG II) launched in 2019 and the impact of the programme on the lives of people in the Eastern Partnership region was the key focus of the online event which took place on October 5-7, 2020. The event had the title “Improving the lives of citizens through better Governance”.
Co-operation with Belarus within the framework of the PGG II is structured around the Council of Europe’s three operational pillars: Human Rights, Rule of Law and Democracy, featuring statutory and convention-based activities, co-operation activities and projects implemented in the framework of the Council of Europe/European Union Partnership for Good Governance (more information: https://pjp-eu.coe.int/en/web/pgg2/belarus).
The event was followed by the live panels dedicated to the topics “Eastern Partnership: challenges and priorities for future cooperation” and “Responses to Covid-19 and lessons learned in the Eastern Partnership region” with participation of the high-level representatives of the European Union, the Council of Europe, and the national authorities from the Eastern Partnership countries.
Various resources on the results of PGG II in the priority areas (fighting economic crime, better justice for citizens, combating violence against women, protection against discrimination), including interviews/statements by representatives of the European Union and the Council of Europe are available after the event on the dedicated section of the website (https://pjp-eu.coe.int/en/web/pgg2/improving-the-lives-of-citizens-through-better-governance).
Through the Partnership for Good Governance (PGG II) the European Union and the Council of Europe are working together to strengthen governance in the Eastern Partnership region.
