Pompidou Group launches cooperation project in Belarus

The first meeting of the Pompidou Group was held in Minsk on 18 and 19 February 2020, dedicated to the launch of a new cooperation project in the Republic of Belarus on fighting drug abuse and drug trafficking.
During this meeting, the Pompidou Group discussed the activities of the new project with representatives of the Ministries of the Interior, Health, Education and Labour, as well as law enforcement agencies.
The project is implemented as part of the Council of Europe Action Plan for Belarus 2019-2021. It addresses the challenges related to perceived trends of increased drug use and trafficking affecting the territory of Belarus, through providing human rights and drug policy expertise, opportunities to intensify cooperation with other European countries and technical assistance both on the demand and supply reduction sides.
