Semifinal of the René Cassin European Human Rights Competition

The team of the Faculty of International Relations of the Belarusian State University will perform in the semifinal of the prestigious French-language competition - René Cassin European Human Rights Competition (2020),

which will be held at the headquarters of the Council of Europe and at the European Court of Human Rights (Strasbourg, France) on March 25-27, 2020.

In total, 32 teams from leading universities were selected to participate in the oral rounds of the competition. The FIR BSU team is the only team from the post-Soviet region that has passed the written selection stage, and one of the two teams that speak French as a foreign language.

Preparation of the team was organized with support of the Council of Europe Information Point in Minsk.

The René Cassin competition is the oldest competition consisting of mock legal proceedings in French and based on the European Convention on Human Rights. Open to students of law and political science in Europe, it is organized by the Faculty of Law of the University of Strasbourg and the René Cassin Foundation with the support of the ECHR, the Council of Europe and numerous local and national partners.

The MEDICRIME Convention ratification

On 28 September 2020 the Republic of Belarus has deposited the instrument of ratification of the Council of Europe Convention on the counterfeiting of medical products and similar crimes involving threats to public health (hereafter – MEDICRIME Convention). The MEDICRIME Convention will enter into force for Belarus on 1st January 2021.
