Training in the framework of the competition for students of law faculties of higher educational institutions of the Republic of Belarus on the law of the European Convention on Human Rights

The training in the framework of preparation for the competition of students of law faculties of higher educational institutions of the Republic of Belarus on the law of the European Convention on Human Rights was held on February 21, 2020 in Minsk.
It was organized for teams of higher educational institutions of Minsk, which participate in the competition (Belarusian State University, International University «MITSO», Belarusian State Economic University), at the faculty of international relations of the Belarusian State University.
The speakers of the training were Ms Ekaterina Efimova (a lawyer at Threefold Legal Advisors, the national administrator of the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition in Russia) and Mr Maxim Timofeev (PhD, Associate Professor, Council of Europe expert).
During the event, experts highlighted such issues as algorithms for analyzing the actual circumstances of the case under article 8 of the Convention and article 1 of Protocol No. 1 to the Convention, recommendations on how to formulate and support a written position of the party to a case, as well as recommendations on how to formulate and support oral position of the party to a case.
The training was conducted by means of a dialogue and included a discussion of the facts of exceptional cases related to article 8 of the Convention and article 1 of Protocol No. 1 to the Convention, brief written and brief oral tasks to formulate what constitutes violation under the Convention.
From February 16 to 22 the same trainings were held in regional universities, which took part in this competition (Brest State A.S. Pushkin University, Polotsk State University, Janka Kupała State University of Grodno, Vitebsk State University named after P.M. Masherov, Mogilev State A. Kuleshov University, Francisk Skorina Gomel State University).
The final of the competition is scheduled for April 3-5, 2020 in Minsk.
