International scientific and practical conference

International scientific and practical conference "The role of legal science in the processes of improving legislation and its application" was held on December 17, 2019. The event was organized by the Council of Europe and the National Center for Legal Information of the Republic of Belarus.
The conference was attended by more than 60 heads and experts of state bodies and organizations, research centers and institutes, representatives of the teaching staff of higher education institutions and the Council of Europe experts.
Sergey Dikman, program adviser at the Council of Europe Directorate for Human Rights, made a presentation on implementation of the European Convention on Human Rights and cooperation of the Council of Europe member states in the field of legal proceedings.
Vadim Ipatov, Head of the National Center for Legislation and Legal Research of the Republic of Belarus, shared his experience on the issue of scientific support for legislation activities in the Republic of Belarus.
Eugene Kovalenko, Head of the National Center for Legal Information of the Republic of Belarus, made a report on the topic: "Scientific activity of the National Center for Legal Information of the Republic of Belarus as a factor of digital transformation of the national legal system".
The conference participants also heard reports on interdisciplinarity and integrated approaches in scientific researches as a condition for the effectiveness of legislation, the role of legal science in eliminating gaps in legislation, the principle of science in the construction of criminal law and many other topics.
