The competition on the Council of Europe law “Erga Omnes”

The competition on the Council of Europe law “Erga Omnes”, organized by the International Law and Arbitration Association (BILA) and the Council of Europe Information Point in Minsk was held from 30 June till 4 July 2019.

The competition was attended by 20 students of various specialties from Belarusian universities. On each of the competition days the participants had to carry out numerous tasks on the subject of the Council of Europe law both individually and as part of teams.

According to the results of the competition the first place was shared by Ilya Khromtsov (Belarusian State Agricultural Academy, Gorki) and Ekaterina Vinnikova (Belarusian State University, Minsk), Alla Kolosova (Belarusian State University, Minsk) and Shnyp Bogdan (International University “MITSO”, Minsk) took second place. The main prize for the first and second places – a visit to the World Forum for Democracy, which will be held in Strasbourg (France) from 6 to 8 November 2019. Experts awarded third place to Yana Silvestrova (Belarusian State University, Minsk) and Alexander Grinko (Polotsk State University, Polotsk).

All participants received certificates of participation, and six winners were also presented with books on the law of the European Convention on Human Rights.

Webinar on Roma rights and equality

On 9 July, a webinar will be organised on “Roma rights and equality” between  3-5 pm CET, in the framework of the regional project “Strengthening access to justice through non-judicial redress mechanisms for victims of discrimination, hate crime and hate speech in Eastern Partnership countries”.
