Conference «Conclusion, observance and interpretation of international treaties» in Minsk

The conference «Conclusion, observance and interpretation of international treaties» was organized on 19-20 of September in Minsk by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, the Council of Europe Secretariat and the Council of Europe Information Point in Minsk.

The main innovations of the Law on International Treaties of the Republic of Belarus taking into account the practice of applying its new edition, the Methodological Recommendations on its application developed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as individual international treaties and other documents of the Council of Europe, as examples, were considered during the two-day conference.

Representatives and experts of the Council of Europe Secretariat took part in the conference, namely: Political Advisor for Belarus Ms. Albina Ovcearenco; Director of Legal Advice and Public International Law Mr. Jörg Polakiewicz; Secretary for Medicrime Convention Mr.Oscar Alarcon; Executive Secretary of the Enlarged Partial Agreement on Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe Mr. Stefano Dominioni; Senior Programme Officer of Pompidou Group Ms. Elena Hedoux.  Also in the conference took part Legal Adviser of Directorate for Legal Affairs of OECD Ms. Céline Folsché; Deputy Legal Adviser of DG Legislation of Belgian Federal Public Service for Justice Mr. Erik Verbert; Director of the Legal and Treaty Department  of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland Mr. Konrad Marciniak; First Vice-Chair of the Consultative Committee on Convention 108 Ms. Tamar Kaldani.

The event was attended by about 140 representatives of state bodies, public organizations, international organizations, the diplomatic corps, higher educational institutions and law firms.

 The meeting of the Scientific Advisory Council on International Law under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus was held on 20 of September, during which, in particular, Director of Legal Advice and Public International Law Mr. Jörg Polakiewicz and Honored Lawyer of the Republic of Belarus Mr. Grigory Vasilevich made presentations on the rule of law.
