The infographics project “Impact of the European Court of Human Rights” was presented in the Council of Europe
Short summary of the infographics project “Impact of the European Court of Human Rights” was presented in the Council of Europe.
The first edition of this new communication tool designed to show the positive impact of the Convention is now online: www.coe.int/ECHR
It is aimed at citizens, teachers, journalists, human rights defenders and government officials – all those who are interested in the European Court of Human Rights and how it works.
The website provides examples of judgments from the European Court of Human Rights and how their implementation has improved people’s lives across Europe.
Examples of cases and their effects are shown by country and by theme. The website presents a selection of cases from the European Court – it is not exhaustive. More cases will be added as the project progresses.
The “Other Key Conventions” feature also gives an overview of other major Council of Europe treaties and the state of their implementation (signed, ratified or neither) in the organization’s 47 member states, and worldwide.
The site is currently available in English and in a provisional French version. Translations are planned into Russian and Turkish, with the option of additional language versions in the future and depending on funding.
The first edition of this project has been made possible thanks to the support of the governments of Finland, Ireland and Norway.
